Today we announced that Appcelerator has acquired Particle Code, the cross-platform development company that won DEMO God in 2010. There is a strong strategic and engineering fit between our two companies as Particle Code adds outstanding iOS, Android, and HTML5 talent to our platform team. We’re excited to welcome our new colleagues, who will be settling in with their fellow developers here in Mountain View, California this week.
While core Titanium platform development will be the major focus of our newly-enlarged iOS and Android engineering team, the Particle Code acquisition also brings new product opportunities to Appcelerator and to you, our developers. The company has a solid HTML5 offering that will merge with our own mobile web initiative in this area and their significant work in the gaming segment will add to our mobile consumer capabilities in 2012.
If you use and like Particle, you’ll find a lot of value in Appcelerator’s Titanium Platform. Titanium lets you develop native apps for mobile, tablet, desktop and web platforms using web technologies you already know and use. Titanium now powers 30,000 applications, including NBC’s iPad app, which reached #1 on the Apple App Store last month; GetGlue, the #2 social networking app; Hotel Tonight, the #1 travel app; and Wunderlist the #1 productivity app. If you aren’t a Titanium user already, download the software for free at www.appcelerator.com.
Please join us in welcoming the Particle Code engineering team to the Appcelerator family!
