Beta Releases for CLI 5.3, Titanium 5.3 and Studio 4.6 to support Windows 10, App Designer & Preview

Fast speed dataflow.

We have published Beta Releases for the Appcelerator CLI 5.3.0, Titanium SDK 5.3.0 and Appcelerator Studio 4.6.0. To help us get to RC and GA quickly, please give these betas a try on as many projects possible and report any issues.

Windows 10, App Designer & App Preview

This Titanium SDK release is almost entirely focussed on delivering Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile support. You can now build Titanium apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10.

This Studio release integrates App Designer and App Preview.

Release Notes & Known Issues

For an overview of the new features, improvements, fixes and known issues in these releases see the following links:

Reporting Bugs

If you run into any issues that seem related to the updates, please report them on JIRA. First check if it’s a known issue you can watch. If you can’t find an existing ticket, then create one in the Appcelerator Community (AC) project and include as much relevant information as you can.

You can leave general comments as a reply to this blog post.

Appcelerator Studio

Get the beta of Studio by changing the update type to Beta Release and then check for updates.

Notice: Studio 4.6.0 beta is the first to include App Designer. If you have installed the App Designer beta from Labs you will need to remove this plugin before updating Studio to the beta.

To roll back delete the beta version and download and install the latest stable version.

Appcelerator CLI

There’s a beta for both the Appcelerator CLI Installer and Core Package.

Get both via the command line:

[sudo] npm install -g appcelerator@4.2.5-3
appc use 5.3.0-34

To roll back:

[sudo] npm install -g appcelerator
appc use latest

Titanium SDK

Get the beta of the Titanium SDK from the command line:

[appc] ti sdk install -d 5.3.0.v20160421065451

To roll back:

[appc] ti sdk select latest

Titanium & Alloy CLI

If you use the Appcelerator CLI, then the latest GA versions of the Titanium CLI (5.0.6, 2016-01-14) and Alloy (1.7.33, 2016-01-15) will be included as part of that Beta.

If you have been using the stand-alone Titanium CLI and haven’t updated them lately, then you can get these versions from the command line:

[sudo] npm install -g titanium alloy

    • Hi Joaquim. The 5.3 release is focussed on Windows, not Android or Android Wear. We do have a JIRA ticket requesting Android Wear support, but we currently don’t see a high user interest for this so it’s currently not scheduled.
