Introducing Titanium+Plus. The Cloud Starts Here®

Enabling rapid innovation and cloud-connected mobility are two of our key priorities in 2011. And based on recent Appcelerator/IDC surveys, you agree. Whether it’s mobile commerce, messaging, media, or analytics, 87% of you say that connecting your apps to innovative cloud services is key to your mobile application strategy this year.

That’s why today we are releasing an entire set of value-added extensions to the Titanium platform which we’re calling Titanium+Plus. These modules extend the functionality of the Titanium SDK to the cloud for scenarios that are popular with many Titanium developers. Below are the initial modules that are now available for use in your applications:

  • Communication modules: Urban Airship, Bump, SMS
  • Commerce modules: Barcode reader, PayPal in-app purchase, Apple StoreKit in-app purchase, Magtek credit card reader
  • Media modules: TV Out, Brightcove
  • Analytics modules: Titanium Analytics, Titanium Geo, Omniture

Over the coming months, we plan to roll out many more Titanium+Plus modules based on your feedback. These modules are fully backed by Appcelerator. We integrate, test and support Titanium modules in the same way we do with the Titanium platform. And wherever possible, we will make these modules available across multiple platforms.

Evaluation use and new software packages

We want you to start developing with Titanium+Plus modules right away, so we’re making them available to you for evaluation use for free. As you move into commercial development, we have created new small business and enterprise packages that feature the new Titanium+Plus modules for commercial deployment. Pricing starts at $2,500/year.

Effective today, Titanium Small Business replaces Titanium Professional as our annual subscription offering for companies with 100 or fewer employees. If you have any questions about our new offerings or would like to purchase Titanium Small Business, please contact us for more information.

Titanium+Plus access for existing Titanium Professional subscribers

Existing Titanium Professional subscribers will continue to have access to the modules in our new Small Business offering as long as they maintain their Professional subscriptions. Access to Analytics and Media modules are available for commercial deployment with an Enterprise subscription.

Develop native Titanium modules for your business

Many of you are also interested in creating modules to extend the power of Titanium for your own business. To help you get started, we are also releasing three open source sample modules: Flurry for iOS, AdMob for iOS, and Paint for iOS. These samples, plus the module SDK, will enable you to develop a module in Objective-C (iOS) or Java (Android) and expose its functionality to your app through a custom Titanium JavaScript API.

Here’s the Source Code to all three modules.

More to come

Titanium+Plus is the first of many major software additions that we are rolling out in 2011. We are well underway with our new Titanium Studio IDE that was announced in January and we have several major announcements coming over the next few months. As always, we value your input so please drop us a line with any questions or suggestions you may have.
